BIO

Everyone calls me Max, even though at the registry my parents registered me with the name Massimiliano.
I am a professional photographer and director of photography. I have always preferred photography where the “human” element is the protagonist: from reportage to fashion, from photo-romances to weddings.
My photo shoots are published by Italian and foreign outlets.
Exclusive photographer from 2009-2022 for the photo-romance production company The Best and Fotorò (Grand Hotel in Italy, Nous Deux in France)
For the same production I also oversaw the migration from analog to digital process.
I collaborated for about 10 years with the magazine Fotografia Reflex, writing articles on technical topics and on testing photographic equipment and lighting.
Lighting, together with environmental portraiture, are also the situations I mainly tackle in the workshops and photography courses I run, as an instructor, throughout Italy.
In 2018 I created and led, as an instructor, the First Photography Course at the Carabinieri Cadet School Legion.
In 2010 I founded Riflessifotografici.com, which brings together in a single entity the photography culture portal, the photography school, and the film production label for the making and promotion of independent films.
2012, Member of the Fujifilm X-Photographers.
For Fujifilm Italia I collaborated, as an instructor, at events such as Photoshow and eXperience tour.
For the publishing house Reflex I produced a book in the series La Biblioteca del Fotografo titled: The Photographer’s Light.
In collaboration with the Gruppo Storico Romano I produced the publication “Between Faith and History”, which collects two historical reconstruction works: the origins of the Birthday of Rome (DCCC Ab Urbe Condita) and the Catholic Via Crucis (the Via Dolorosa).
In 2016 I published “X 5th Annyversary” on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Fujifilm X-Photographers.
In 2017 I produced the photo book “The Carabinieri Band”.
For this work I was awarded the international Apoxiomeno prize - Art section together with Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Taylor Hackford.
In 2018 the publication “Angels and Gods”, which describes the meeting of a modern Artist with the classical art housed in the National Archaeological Museum of Ferrara.
In collaboration with the Carabinieri Cadet Legion and the National Carabinieri Association I produced the reportage-style photo book “What do you want to be when you grow up?” which contrasts the beauties of Italy with landfills in breach of EU rules.
In collaboration with Fujifilm I took part in the Wonder Plaza project aimed at printing and publishing a book on 7 of the main European capitals.
With the patronage of the Pontifical Council for Culture of the Vatican, I founded the Mt.9913 group with the aim of creating a new version of Caravaggio’s “Calling of St. Matthew”. In 2021-22 I created the exhibition “Between Faith and History”, a synthesis of 12 images from the 5 sacred art - historical reconstruction works, produced to date:
DCCC ab Urbe Condita, Via Crucis - The Via Dolorosa, Mt. 9,9-13, ADZERO (Anno Domini Zero), Aqua (Baptism of Christ and Jesus walks on water).
In 2022 a series of photographs taken during the Palio di Siena on July 2 was selected for the publications Scatti in Campo 2022 (edited by the Consortium for the protection of the Palio di Siena) and the special celebratory issue of the victory (edited by the Contrada del Drago).

In 2025 I created the photo exhibition “The strength of a smile”, shown in the spaces of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico, with the aim of using art as a tool to celebrate doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and administrative staff: women and men who every day are protagonists and witnesses of care and humanity.
